Yesterday I had kitchen fever and ended up cooking, baking and pickling everything I had that needed to be used. ⠀
And this dish was born... coming at the right time for this weeks @_cookitupclub theme of German Food. ⠀
⠀
Although I love getting involved in the cook it up challenges on instagram, because I am shopping in a different way and not shopping for meals but letting the food that is available decide what I'll make, I'm not always able to take part. This week however Shaun (without even knowing) picked up some reduced priced German sausages from @Aldi and as I already had the sauerkraut in, it was a done deal!⠀
⠀
The herbs and spices in this aren't like what I would normally use so I stepped out of my comfort zone and whipped up this here delicacy. Using German sausage, fennel, dill, oregano, celery, leeks, seasoning and a little brown sugar for the base of the stew I then topped it with drained sauerkraut before wrapping in foil and cooking for 45 minutes ⠀
⠀
I served and ate mine with some red cabbage cooked in blackcurrant squash.⠀
